12th Ave. North Bridge Replacement Project Continues, in Birmingham
JEFFERSON COUNTY –. Weather permitting, the construction project to replace the 12th Avenue North Bridge that spans over I-59/20 just north of downtown Birmingham will continue as follows:
The contractor for the above project is planning on implementing interstate single lane closures THIS WEEK on the I-59/20 Southbound (WB) and Northbound (EB) roadways to move existing concrete barrier rail from the outside shoulder to the inside shoulder prior to the 12th Avenue North Bridge. These closures will be between the Tallapoosa St. (128 Exit) and the 31st/Hwy.280 Expressway Exits (126A).
- Tuesday, November 29 at 10 a.m. the I-59/20 southbound (OUTSIDE) lane near Milepost 127.5 will be closed until approximately 1 p.m. Tuesday afternoon;
- Tuesday, November 29 at 11 a.m. the I-59 northbound (INSIDE) lane near Milepost 126.5 will be closed until approximately 3 p.m. Tuesday afternoon; and
- Tuesday, November 29 at 1:30 p.m. the I-59/20 southbound (INSIDE) 2 lane near Milepost 127.5 will be closed until approximately 4 p.m., Tuesday afternoon.
State troopers will be on site to assist with blue lighting for the lane closures.
Motorists are requested to consider using alternate routes, adjust arrival/departure times, observe work zone speed limits and other work zone signs, and use extreme caution in this area. ALDOT thanks motorists for their patience during this Construction Operation to improve Alabama’s roadways.
