31st Street Bridge Project Continues, in Birmingham

 

JEFFERSON COUNTY –Weather permitting, the construction project on the 31st Street Bridge in Birmingham will continue as follows:

 

The contractor for the above project is planning on implementing interstate lane closures this coming week on the I-59/20 Southbound (WB) and Northbound (EB) roadways to continue removing the 31st Street N Bridge concrete bridge deck. These closures will be between the Tallapoosa Street (128 Exit) and the 31st Street/280 Expressway Exits (126A).

 

  • Sunday , October 16 at 7 p.m. the I-59 southbound (inside) 2  lanes near Milepost 127.5  will be closed until  6 a.m., Monday, October 17;

 

  • Monday, October 17 at 6 p.m. the I-59 southbound (inside) 2 2anes near Milepost 127.5 will be closed until approximately 6 a.m., Tuesday, October, 18;

 

  • Tuesday, October 18 at 7 p.m. the I-59 northbound (inside) 2 lanes near Milepost 126.5 will be closed until approximately 7 a.m., Wednesday, October 19;

 

  • Wednesday, October 19 at 7 p.m. the I-59 northbound (outside) 2 lanes near Milepost 126.5 will be closed until approximately 7 a.m., Thursday, October 20; and

 

o   The off ramp to 31st Street North will remain open.

 

  • Thursday, October 20 at 7 p.m. the I-59 northbound (outside) 2 lanes near Milepost 126.5 will be closed until approximately 7 a.m., Friday, October 21.

 

o   The off ramp to 31st Street North will remain open.

 

No work will be performed on the interstate Friday, October 21 after 12 p.m. due to the Talladega Race weekend and Alabama Football game

 

Motorists are requested to consider using alternate routes, adjust arrival/departure times, observe work zone speed limits and other work zone signs, and use extreme caution in this area. ALDOT thanks motorists for their patience during this Construction Operation to improve Alabama’s roadways.
