Planned Bridge Closure on Arkadelphia Road Bridge (US 78/SR 5), in BirminghamPosted on: August 21, 2017 at 4:13 pm
BIRMINGHAM – Weather permitting, Friday, August 25th through Monday, August 28th the Alabama Department of Transportation will be performing the following work on the Arkadelphia Road Bridge (US 78/State Route 5):
- Beginning at 7 p.m., Friday, August 25th the Arkadelphia Road Bridge (US 78/ SR 5) over I-59 will be closed for concrete pavement construction and bridge repairs.
- All Arkadelphia Road (US 78/ SR 5) traffic and I-59 ramp traffic to Arkadelphia Road will be rerouted.
- No Arkadelphia Road traffic will be allowed to cross the bridge over I-59 except Emergency Vehicles. Alabama State Troopers will be on site to assist with Traffic Control and with Emergency Vehicle access.
- Arkadelphia Road and I-59 ramp traffic to Arkadelphia Road should expect delays and adhere to message board signage or use an alternate route (via Finley Blvd. or I-65).
This work should be completed by Monday, August 28th at 6 a.m.
Motorists are requested to consider using alternate routes, adjust arrival/departure times, observe work zone speed limits and other work zone signs, and use extreme caution in this area. ALDOT thanks motorists for their patience during this Construction Operation to improve Alabama’s roadways.
