Planned Bridge Repairs on I-59 SB, in Birmingham
From the 31st St. Interchange (Exit 126B, MP 126.6) to just south of the Exit Ramp to AL 3/US 31 (Exit 126A, MP 126.4)
BIRMINGHAM – On Friday, May 19 the Alabama Department of Transportation will begin bridge repairs on I-59 southbound from the 31st Street Interchange (Exit 126B, Milepost 126.6) to just south of the Exit Ramp to AL 3/US 31 (Exit 126A) in Birmingham. This work will consist of the following lane closures and ramp narrowing details:
- This work will begin Friday, at 7 p.m. and be completed no later than Monday, May 22 at 5 a.m.
- The outside (right) two lanes will be closed for the duration of the repairs.
- This exit ramp will not be effected, however, the southbound entrance ramp from this interchange will be shortened and narrowed to one lane, with a yield
- This exit ramp will remain open; however, it will be narrowed to one lane to allow adequate space for the work zone.
Motorists are requested to consider using alternate routes, adjust arrival/departure times, observe work zone speed limits and other work zone signs, and use extreme caution in this area. ALDOT thanks motorists for their patience during this Maintenance Operation to improve Alabama’s roadways.
