Planned Closures at 31st Street North Bridge, in Birmingham
JEFFERSON COUNTY – Weather permitting, the Alabama Department of Transportation announces lane closures on the 31st Street North Bridge project as follows:
The contractor is planning on implementing interstate double lane closures on the I-59/20 Southbound (WB) and Northbound (EB) roadways to install metal deck pans and overhang formwork for the 31st Street North Bridge deck. These closures will be between the Tallapoosa Street Exit, 128 and the 31/280 Expressway Exit, 126-A.
· Monday, February 27 at 7 p.m. the I-59 Northbound outside 2 lanes near Milepost 126.5 will be closed until approximately 6 a.m. Tuesday, February 28.
· Tuesday, February 28 at 7 p.m. the I-59 Northbound inside 2 lanes near Milepost 126.5 will be closed until approximately 6 a.m. Wednesday, March 1.
· Wednesday, March 1 at 6 p.m. the I-59 Southbound inside 2 lanes near Milepost 127.5 will be closed until approximately 6 a.m. Thursday, March 2.
· Thursday, March 2 at 6 p.m. the I-59 Southbound outside 2 lanes near Milepost 127.5 will be closed until approximately 6 a.m. Friday, March 3.
State troopers will be on site to assist with blue lighting for the lane closures.
Motorists are requested to consider using alternate routes, adjust arrival/departure times, observe work zone speed limits and other work zone signs, and use extreme caution in this area. ALDOT thanks motorists for their patience during this Construction Operation to improve Alabama’s roadways.
