Planned Closures at 31st Street North Bridge, in Birmingham
JEFFERSON COUNTY -. Weather permitting, the Alabama Department of Transportation announces lane closures on the 31st Street North Bridge project as follows:
The contractor is planning on implementing interstate lane closures on the I-59/20 Southbound (WB) and Northbound (EB) roadways to remove temporary barrier rails for the 31st Street North Bridge. These closures will be between the Tallapoosa Street Exit, 128 and the 31/280 Expressway Exit, 126A.
- Tuesday, May 9 at 6 p.m. the I-59 southbound inside 2 lanes near Milepost 127.5 will be closed until approximately 3 a.m. Wednesday morning, and at approximately 7 p.m. the I-59 southbound inside lane near Milepost 126.5 will be closed until approximately 12 a.m. Wednesday, May 10.
State troopers will be on site to assist with blue lighting for the lane closures.
Motorists are requested to consider using alternate routes, adjust arrival/departure times, observe work zone speed limits and other work zone signs, and use extreme caution in this area. ALDOT thanks motorists for their patience during this Construction Operation to improve Alabama’s roadways.
