Planned Lane Closures on I-59/20 NB, in Birmingham
BIRMINGHAM – Weather permitting, Friday, November 10th at 11 p.m., the Alabama Department of Transportation will close all lanes on I- 59/20 Northbound west of the Interchange to install a Steel Beam across the interstate. Traffic from I-59/20 Northbound to I-65 Northbound and I-65 Southbound will be diverted west of the interchange. The exits from I-65 Northbound and I-65 Southbound heading to I-59/20 Northbound will be closed at the interchange.
The lanes are scheduled to re-open at approximately 5 a.m. on Saturday, November 11th. In addition, the ramps to I-59/20 from I-65 Northbound and I-65 Southbound will also be closed during this time frame.
The lane closures will require the use of Law Enforcement Officers.
A reduced speed limit of 45 mph is in effect throughout the work zone. Motorists are requested to consider using alternate routes, adjust arrival/departure times, observe work zone speed limits and other work zone signs, and use extreme caution in this area.
