Planned Lane Closures on I-59/20 SB and NB to Set Bridge Girders, in Birmingham
As Construction Continues the CBD Project
BIRMINGHAM – Weather permitting, the Alabama Department of Transportation will continue a project to improve the I-59/20 and I-65 Interchange as follows:
- PHASE 2 – Wednesday, May 23rd and Thursday, May 24th, I-59/20 SB (MP 124) will be closed from 11p.m. til 5 a.m. to set Bridge Girders.
- Friday, May 25th and Saturday, May 26th, I-59/20 NB (MP 124) will be closed from 11 p.m. til 5 a.m. to set Bridge Girders.
- PHASE 3 – Wednesday, May 23rd and Thursday, May 24th, I-59/20 NB (MP 125) will be closed from 11 p.m. til 5 a.m. to set Bridge Girders
Detour routes will be in place.
The lane closures will require the use of Law Enforcement Officers.
A reduced speed limit of 45 mph is in effect throughout the work zone. Motorists are requested to consider using alternate routes, adjust arrival/departure times, observe work zone speed limits and other work zone signs, and use extreme caution in this area.
