Planned Ramp Closure onto I-59/20 NB, in Birmingham
As Construction Continues the CBD Project
BIRMINGHAM – Weather permitting, the Alabama Department of Transportation will continue a project to improve the I-59/20 and I-65 Interchange as follows:
- Beginning, Monday, May 21st the 31st Street Ramp onto I-59/20 Northbound will close at approximately 12:01 a.m. This ramp will remain closed for approximately 2 months to complete construction activities for the new ramp as a part of the I-59/20 Central Business Project (CBD).
DETOUR: From 31st Street take Richard Arrington Jr. Blvd. North, to 40th Street towards Tallapoosa to access the on Ramp to I-59/20 Northbound.
Message boards will be up along the path for the detour.
The closures will require the use of Law Enforcement Officers.
A reduced speed limit of 45 mph is in effect throughout the work zone. Motorists are requested to consider using alternate routes, adjust arrival/departure times, observe work zone speed limits and other work zone signs, and use extreme caution in this area.
