Work Continues on Phase II of I-59/20 Bridge Project

Central Business District (CBD) Interchange and Bridge Replacement Project

 

BIRMINGHAM – Weather permitting, the Alabama Department of Transportation will continue a project for new bridge foundation work to improve the I-59/20 and I-65 interchange as follows:

 

  • Friday, November 11 beginning at 8 p.m., a double right lane closure will take place on I-65 southbound (Milepost 261) underneath the 12th Court North Bridge for bridge demolition activities (12th Ct. N Bridge) thru Sunday, November 13 at 10 a.m.

 

  • Friday, November 11, beginning at 12 a.m., a Rolling Block will take place on the On-ramp from I-59/20 southbound to I-65 northbound (Milepost 261) for demolition activities (12th Ct. N Bridge) thru Monday, November 14 at 11 a.m.

 

  • Monday, November 14 beginning at 8 p.m., a double right lane closure will take place on I-65 northbound and southbound (Milepost 261) underneath the 12th Court North Bridge for demolition activities (12th Ct. N Bridge) thru Tuesday, November 15 at 10 a.m.

 

  • Tuesday, November 15 at 8 p.m., a double left lane closure will take place on I-65 northbound and southbound (Milepost 261) between the Interchange and 16th St. N. exit ramp for bridge demolition activities (12th Ct. N bridge) thru Saturday, November 19 at 10 a.m.

All temporary traffic control signage and warnings will be in place.

 

This work is a part of Phase II of the I-59/20 Central Business District (CBD) Interchange and Bridge Replacement Project.

 

Motorists are requested to consider using alternate routes, adjust arrival/departure times, observe work zone speed limits and other work zone signs, and use extreme caution in this area. ALDOT thanks motorists for their patience during this Construction Operation to improve Alabama’s roadways.
