Work Continues on Phase II of I-59/20 Bridge Project

(Double Left Lane Closures on I-65 NB and SB)

Central Business District (CBD) Interchange and Bridge Replacement Project

 

BIRMINGHAM – Weather permitting, the Alabama Department of Transportation will continue a project for new bridge foundation work to improve the I-59/20 and I-65 interchange as follows:

 

  • A double left lane closure will take place on I-65 northbound  from the I-59/20 Interchange to 16th Street North Exit Ramp for bridge demolition activities (12th Ct. N Bridge) during the following time frames:

–          Monday, November 28 at 8 p.m. and ending Tuesday, November 29 at 6 a.m.

–          Tuesday, November 29 at 8 p.m. and ending Wednesday, November 30 at 6 a.m.

–          Wednesday, November 30 at 8 p.m. and ending Thursday, December 1 at 6 a.m.

–          Thursday, December 1 at 8 p.m. and ending Friday, December 2 at 6 a.m.

–          Friday, December 2 at 8 p.m. and ending Saturday, December 3 at 10 a.m.

 

  • A double left lane closure will take place on I-65 southbound  from 16th Street North to the I-59/20 Interchange for bridge demolition activities (12th Ct. N Bridge) during the following time frames:

–          Monday, November 28 at 8 p.m. and ending Tuesday, November 29 at 6 a.m.

–          Tuesday, November 29 at 8 p.m. and ending Wednesday, November 30 at 6 a.m.

–          Wednesday, November 30 at 8 p.m. and ending Thursday, December 1 at 6 a.m.

–          Thursday, December 1 at 8 p.m. and ending Friday, December 2 at 6 a.m.

–          Friday, December 2 at 8 p.m. and ending Saturday, December 3 at 10 a.m.

 

All temporary traffic control signage and warnings will be in place.

 

This work is a part of Phase II of the I-59/20 Central Business District (CBD) Interchange and Bridge Replacement Project.

 

Motorists are requested to consider using alternate routes, adjust arrival/departure times, observe work zone speed limits and other work zone signs, and use extreme caution in this area. ALDOT thanks motorists for their patience during this Construction Operation to improve Alabama’s roadways.
