Work Continues on Phase II of I-59/20 Bridge Project (Update)

Central Business District (CBD) Interchange and Bridge Replacement Project

 

BIRMINGHAM – Weather permitting, the Alabama Department of Transportation will continue a project for new bridge foundation work to improve the I-59/20 and I-65 interchange as follows:

 

  • A double left lane closure will take place on I-65 northbound between the I-59/20 Interchange and 16th Street North Exit Ramp for bridge demolition activities (12th Court North Bridge) during the following time frames:

–         Friday, December 02 at 8 p.m. thru Sunday, December 4 at 6 a.m. (each night)

–         Monday, December 5 at 8 p.m. thru Sunday, December 11 at 6 a.m. (each night)

 

  • A double left lane closure will take place on I-65 southbound between the I-59/20 Interchange and 16th Street North Exit Ramp for bridge demolition activities (12th Court North Bridge) during the following time frames:

–          Friday, December 02 at 8 p.m. thru Sunday, December 4 at 6 a.m. (each night)

–         Monday, December 5 at 8 p.m. thru Sunday, December 11 at 6 a.m. (each night)

 

  • A Rolling Block in 15 minute intervals will take place at the On-ramp from I-59/20 (Milepost 124) southbound to I-65 northbound for bridge demolition activities (12th Court North Bridge) during the following time frames:

–        Friday, December 2 at 11 p.m. thru Sunday, December 4 at 5 a.m. (each night)

–        Monday, December 5 at 11 p.m. thru Sunday, December 11 at 5 a.m. (each night)

 

All temporary traffic control signage and warnings will be in place.

 

This work is a part of Phase II of the I-59/20 Central Business District (CBD) Interchange and Bridge Replacement Project.

 

Motorists are requested to consider using alternate routes, adjust arrival/departure times, observe work zone speed limits and other work zone signs, and use extreme caution in this area. ALDOT thanks motorists for their patience during this Construction Operation to improve Alabama’s roadways.
