Work Continues on Phase II of I-59/20 Bridge Project (Update)

Central Business District (CBD) Interchange and Bridge Replacement Project

 

BIRMINGHAM – Weather permitting, the Alabama Department of Transportation will continue a project for new bridge foundation work to improve the I-59/20 and I-65 Interchange as follows:

 

  • A rolling road block at 15 minute intervals will take place at the on-ramp from I-59/20 southbound to I-65 northbound for bridge demolition activities (12th Court North Bridge).

–          Saturday, January 14 at 12 a.m. and ending Saturday, January 14 at 5 a.m.

–          Monday, January 16 at 12 a.m. and ending Monday, January 16 at 5 a.m.

–          Tuesday, January 17 at 12 a.m. and ending Tuesday, January 17 at 5 a.m.

 

  • A single right lane closure will take place on I-65 northbound between the I-59/20 Interchange and the 16th Street North exit ramp for bridge demolition activities (12th Court North Bridge).

–          Monday, January 16 at 12 a.m. and ending Monday, January 16 at 5 a.m.

–         Saturday, January 21 at 4 p.m. and ending Saturday, January 21 at 11 p.m.

 

  • A double right lane closure will take place on I-65 southbound from 12th Court North to south of the I-59/20 Interchange for milling and striping activities.

–          Monday, January 16 at 8 p.m. and ending Tuesday, January 17 at 5 a.m.

 

  • A double right lane closure will take place on I-65 southbound from the I-59/20 Interchange to Rev. Abraham Woods Jr. Blvd. for milling and striping activities.

–          Tuesday, January 17 at 8 p.m. and ending Wednesday, January 18 at 5 a.m.

 

  • A double right lane closure will take place on I-65 southbound from Rev Abraham Woods Jr. Blvd. to 4th Avenue North for milling and striping and striping activities.

–          Wednesday, January 18 at 8 p.m. and ending Thursday, January 19 at 5 a.m.

 

  • A rolling road block at 15 minute intervals will take place at the off-ramp from I-65 southbound to 6th Avenue North for beam erection activities.

–          Wednesday, January 18 at 11 p.m. and ending Thursday, January 19 at 5 a.m.

–          Friday, January 20 at 11 p.m. and ending Saturday, January 21 at 5 a.m.

 

  • A right shoulder closure will take place on I-59/20 northbound between Arkadelphia Road and Center Street for beam erection activities.

–         Wednesday, January 18 at 11 pm. and ending Thursday, January 19 at 5 a.m.

–          Friday, January 20 at 11 p.m. and ending Saturday, January 21 at 5 a.m.

 

  • A double left lane closure will take place on I-65 southbound from 12th Court North to 7th Avenue North for milling, striping, and barrier rail activities.

–          Thursday, January 19 at 8 p.m. and ending Friday, January 20 at 5 a.m.

 

  • A double left lane closure will take place on I-65 southbound from 7th Avenue North to 4th Avenue North for milling, striping, and barrier rail activities.

–          Friday, January 20 at 8 p.m. and ending Saturday, January 21 at 5 a.m.

 

 

All temporary traffic control signage and warnings will be in place.

 

This work is a part of Phase II of the I-59/20 Central Business District (CBD) Interchange and Bridge Replacement Project.

 

Motorists are requested to consider using alternate routes, adjust arrival/departure times, observe work zone speed limits and other work zone signs, and use extreme caution in this area. ALDOT thanks motorists for their patience during this Construction Operation to improve Alabama’s roadways.
