Work Continues on Phase II of I-59/20 Bridge Project (Update)

Central Business District (CBD) Interchange and Bridge Replacement Project

 

BIRMINGHAM – Weather permitting, the Alabama Department of Transportation will continue a project for new bridge foundation work to improve the I-59/20 and I-65 Interchange as follows:

 

  • A rolling road block at 15 minute intervals will take place on I-65 northbound in the center of the I-59/20 Interchange in the right lane for foundation installation activities.

–         Friday, January 20 at 11:30 p.m. thru Sunday, January 29 at 5 a.m., each night.

 

 

  • A double left lane closure will take place on I-59/20 northbound between Center Street and the I-59/20 Interchange for foundation installation activities.

–      Friday, January 20 at 9 p.m. thru Sunday, January 29 at 5 a.m., each night.

 

  • A double left lane closure will take place on I-59/20 southbound from east of the I-59/20 Interchange to the on-ramp from I-65 southbound to I-59/20 southbound for foundation installation activities.

–          Friday, January 20 at 8 p.m. thru Friday, January 27 at 5 a.m., each day.

 

  • A single left lane closure will take place at the on-ramp from I-65 northbound to I-59/20 southbound for foundation installation activities.

–          Friday, January 20 at 9 p.m. thru Sunday, January 29 at 5 a.m., each night.

 

  • A single right lane closure will take place on I-65 northbound between 16th Street North and the I-59/20 Interchange for bridge demolition activities (12th Court North Bridge).

–          Saturday, January 21 at 12: a.m. and ending Saturday 21 at 11:59 p.m.

 

  • A double left lane closure will take place on I-65 southbound between 12th Court North and the I-59/20 Interchange for barrier rail installation.

–          Monday, January 23 at 10 p.m. thru Wednesday, January 24 at 5 a.m., each night.

 

  • A right shoulder closure will take place on I-59/20 northbound between Arkadelphia Rd and Center Street for beam erection activities.

–       Wednesday, January 25 at 12 a.m. and ending Wednesday, January 25 at 11:59 p.m.

 

  • A rolling road block at 15 minute intervals will take place at the off-ramp from I-65 southbound to 6th Avenue North for beam erection activities.

–          Wednesday, January 25 at 11 p.m. thru Saturday, January 28 at 5 a.m., each night.

 

  • A right shoulder closure will take place on I-59/20 northbound between Arkadelphia Rd and Center Street for beam erection activities.

–          Friday, January 27 at 12 a.m. and ending Friday, January 27 at 11:59 p.m.

 

  • A double right lane closure will take place on I-59/20 southbound from east of the I-59/20 Interchange to Arkadelphia Road for pavement repairs.  This will be a continuous closure.

–          Friday, January 27 at 8 p.m. and ending Monday, January 30 at 7 a.m.

 

All temporary traffic control signage and warnings will be in place.

 

This work is a part of Phase II of the I-59/20 Central Business District (CBD) Interchange and Bridge Replacement Project.

 

Motorists are requested to consider using alternate routes, adjust arrival/departure times, observe work zone speed limits and other work zone signs, and use extreme caution in this area. ALDOT thanks motorists for their patience during this Construction Operation to improve Alabama’s roadways.
