MOTORISTS CAN SUBSCRIBE TO RECEIVE FREE I-59/20 BRIDGE PROJECT TEXT ALERT NOTIFICATIONS

BIRMINGHAM– As construction crews are preparing to transition to close portions of I-59/20 through downtown Birmingham for Phase III of the I-59/20 Central Business District Bridge Project, the Alabama Department of Transportation announces that motorists can now subscribe to receive text alert notifications pertaining to the project.

Utilizing Jefferson County Emergency Management Agency’s Nixle alert system by Everbridge, Inc., ALDOT is now able to provide text alerts pertaining to the I-59/20 Central Business District Bridge Project free of charge to subscribers. These alerts may include traffic advisories, detour routes and other important project information.

To sign up, users can text “5920BRIDGE” to 888777. Users will be asked to enter their zip code and will immediately begin to receive I-59/20 bridge project alerts as they are sent.
