I-59/20 Bridge Project Update
(CBD) Central Business District Project

BIRMINGHAM– As construction continues in downtown Birmingham for Interstate Improvements, the Alabama Department of Transportation says drivers should expect delays.

The following closures will take place weather permitting:

• I-59/20 Southbound from Tallapoosa Street to Carraway Blvd. exit will be closed Sunday, June 7^th through Friday, June 12^th from 9 p.m. until 5:30 a.m. for paving.
• Carraway Blvd. from 26^th N to 11^th Avenue N will be closed Thursday, June 4^th through Friday, June 5^th from 12 a.m. until 11:59 for drainage installation.
• 19^th Street N from Rev. Abraham Woods to 10^th Street will be closed, Thursday, June 4^th through Thursday, June 11^th from 12 a.m. until 11: 59 p.m. for culvert installation.
• 16^th Street between Rev. Abraham Woods and 10^th Avenue N will be closed Thursday, June 4^th through Thursday, June 11^th from 12 a.m. until 11:59 p.m. for grade/base/pave.
• 25^th Street NB between Rev. Abraham Woods and Richard Arrington Blvd. will be closed Thursday, June 4^th through Monday, June 8^th from 12 a.m. until 11:59 p.m. for curb/gutter/paving.
• 25^th Street northbound between Rev. Abraham Woods and Richard Arrington Blvd. will be closed Tuesday, June 9^th through Thursday, June 11^th from 12 a.m. until 11:59 p.m. for curb/gutter.
• 25^th Street SB between Rev. Abraham Woods and Richard Arrington Blvd. will be closed Tuesday, June 9^th through Thursday, June 11^th from 12 a.m. until 11:59 p.m. for curb/gutter.
• 24^th Street NB between Rev. Abraham Woods and Richard Arrington Blvd will be closed Saturday, June 6^th through Thursday, June 11^th from 12 a.m. until 11:59 for drainage installation.
• 24^th Street SB between Rev. Abraham Woods and Richard Arrington Blvd. will be closed Saturday, June 6^th through Thursday, June 11^th from 12 a.m. until 11:59 for drainage installation.
• Richard Arrington Jr. Blvd. between Carraway and 28^th Street will be closed Thursday, June 4^th through Thursday, June 11^th from 12 a.m. until 11:59 p.m. for grade/drain/installation.
• Richard Arrington Jr. Blvd. between 25^th Street and Carraway Blvd. will be closed Thursday, June 4^th through Thursday, June 11^th from 12 a.m. until 11:59 p.m. for grading and cleanup.
• Richard Arrington Jr. Blvd. between 22^nd Street N and Rev. Abraham Woods will be closed Wednesday, June 10^th through Thursday, June 18^th from 12 a.m. until 11:59 p.m. for drainage installation.

Detour signs will be in place where necessary. Please keep in mind that all construction plans can change due to weather and other factors. As always, use caution and obey the posted speed limits.

This work is a part of the I-59/20 Central Business District (CBD) Interchange and Bridge Replacement Project.otorists are requested to consider using alternate routes, adjust arrival/departure times, observe work zone speed limits and other work zone signs, and use extreme caution in this area.
