(CBD) Central Business District Project

BIRMINGHAM–Due to upcoming weather conditions, the Alabama Department of Transportation has postponed work scheduled for this weekend on the 25th Street north on ramp and the 31st Street north on ramp to I-59/20 northbound.

A notice will be sent out when these dates have been rescheduled.

This work is a part of the I-59/20 Central Business District (CBD) Interchange and Bridge Replacement Project.

BIRMINGHAM– As construction continues in downtown Birmingham for Interstate Improvements, the Alabama Department of Transportation says drivers should expect delays.

The following closures will take place weather permitting as follows:

  • The 25th Street ramps on to I-59/20 NB and off from I-59/20 SB will close Wednesday, July 10th, 11 p.m. until 5 a.m., for bridge installation.

BIRMINGHAM– Weather permitting on Thursday, June 27th, at 9 a.m., the Alabama Department of Transportation will begin scheduled median maintenance as follows;

  • beginning Thursday, June 27th there will be various intermittent one lane closures on Red Mountain Expressway (US 31). Closures will be from the US 280 Interchange to the I-59/20 Interchange and affect the inside lane in both directions.

The above operation will be daily from 9 a.m. until 3 p.m. and will last for approximately 2 (two) days.
