The following closure will take place during the removal of the existing structures:
- 31st Street on-ramp to I-59/20 NB will close Wednesday, January 30th, Thursday, January 31st, and Friday, February 1st, from 11 p.m. until 5 a.m., for guardrail installation.
In addition, please note:
- Richard Arrington Jr. Boulevard between 24th Street and Carraway Boulevard is scheduled to open Monday, February 4th.
- 18th Street North is scheduled to re-open by the end of the day on Thursday, January 31st.
- 24th Street North between Rev. Abraham Woods Jr. Boulevard and Richard Arrington Jr. Boulevard will not close again until after the 25th Street North ramps open.
Detour signs will be in place where necessary. Please keep in mind that all construction plans can change due to weather and other factors. As always, use caution and obey the posted speed limits.
This work is a part of the I-59/20 Central Business District (CBD) Interchange and Bridge Replacement Project.
Motorists are requested to consider using alternate routes, adjust arrival/departure times, observe work zone speed limits and other work zone signs, and use extreme caution in this area. ALDOT thanks motorists for their patience during this Construction Operation to improve Alabama’s roadways.
