BIRMINGHAM– As construction continues in downtown Birmingham for Interstate Improvements, the Alabama Department of Transportation says drivers should expect delays.

Weather permitting, the following closures will take place as follows:

  • Monday, May 3rd at 9 p.m., the three (3) inside lanes of the I-59/20  southbound bridge beginning at the Red Mountain Expressway Interchange to the south end of the bridge will be closed for survey work.  The two right lanes will remain open.

ALDOT Urges Caution as Severe Weather Moves Across State

MONTGOMERY — The Alabama Department of Transportation and the Alabama Emergency Management Agency are continuing to advise motorists to stay off the roadways as much as possible while much of the state is experiencing severe weather conditions.

Travel on all routes in the affected areas will continue to be potentially hazardous, and some routes may become impassable. Motorists are strongly advised not to travel except in case of emergency. BIRMINGHAM– As construction continues in downtown Birmingham for Interstate Improvements, the Alabama Department of Transportation says drivers should expect delays.

  • Beginning at 9 p.m., March 9th, there will be a single right lane closure along I-59 southbound between Exit 126A (Carraway Blvd.) and Exit 124 C (I-65 northbound). In addition to the lane closure, the ramp from Red Mountain Express to I-59 southbound will also be closed. The closures are needed in order to make concrete spall repairs.

BIRMINGHAM– As construction continues in downtown Birmingham for Interstate Improvements, the Alabama Department of Transportation says drivers should expect delays.

Weather permitting, the following closures will take place:

  • Weather permitting, I-59 northbound between the I-59/I-65 Junction and the off ramp to US-31 and Red Mountain Expressway (Exit 126 A) will have a double lane closure beginning Friday, February 19th at 7 p.m. until 6 a.m. Saturday. This closure is needed to install the OHC 103 sign structure.

Icy, Snowy Conditions May Persist

Motorists warned against nonessential travel through Friday

MONTGOMERY — The Alabama Department of Transportation and the Alabama Emergency Management Agency advise motorists that existing icy conditions on roads across much of north Alabama may be prolonged by temperatures near or below freezing and additional frozen precipitation, potentially making travel hazardous until the end of the week.
