The Alabama Department of Transportation on Thursday morning is urging motorists statewide to use caution when traveling state, U.S. and interstate highways and to abide by local travel advisories for city and county roads as authorities begin cleanup from overnight impacts of Tropical Storm Zeta.

Weather permitting, the following closures will take place as follows:

All Lanes Now Open on I-59/20 NB at  MP 124.7, in Jefferson County

BIRMINGHAM – the Alabama Department of Transportation announces that all lanes are now open to traffic  on I-59/20 NB at Milepost 124.7 in Jefferson County.  All lanes were closed earlier on Friday, October 1st due to an overturned vehicle containing hazardous materials.

The hazardous materials have been removed as of today and the  lanes have been repainted and striped in order to move traffic back on to these lanes. […]

RME Ramp Re-opens Ahead of Schedule

BIRMINGHAM–As construction continues in downtown Birmingham for Interstate Improvements, the Alabama Department of Transportation announces that The Red Mountain Expressway northbound ramp to I-59/20 North and I-20 East towards the Shuttlesworth International Airport will re-open today at 3 p.m.

This ramp was originally scheduled to re-open Monday, March 30th at 7 a.m.

Detour signs will be in place where necessary. Please keep in mind that all construction plans can change due to weather and other factors. […]
