BIRMINGHAM– As construction continues in downtown Birmingham for interstate improvements, the Alabama Department of Transportation says drivers should expect delays. To lessen the impacts of these delays, motorists should consider adjusting arrival/departure times and all commercial vehicle and through traffic should use I-459.

• All commercial vehicle traffic should use I-459

PHASE III CLOSURE ANNOUNCEMENT, IN BIRMINGHAM
(CBD) Central Business District Project

BIRMINGHAM– The Alabama Department of Transportation announces that construction crews are preparing to transition to close portions of I-59/20 through downtown Birmingham for Phase III of the I-59/20 Central Business District Bridge Project. This transition period is expected to take place January 18, 2019 – February 4, 2019 and includes three weekends of construction activities surrounding the closure.

BIRMINGHAM– As construction continues in downtown Birmingham for Interstate Improvements, the Alabama Department of Transportation says drivers should expect delays.

There will be intermittent lane closures and ramp closures this week on Red Mountain Expressway and I-59/20 Northbound and Southbound.

• The Red Mountain Expressway ramp onto I-59/20 NB will be closed Friday night, January 11th, from 11 p.m. until 5 a.m. for Industrial Safety Fence Installation.

31st Off Ramp from I-59/20 Southbound Now Open

BIRMINGHAM–As construction continues in downtown Birmingham for Interstate Improvements, the Alabama Department of Transportation announces today, Thursday, December 20th that the 31st Street Off Ramp from I-59/20 Southbound is now open.

Motorists are encouraged to consider using alternate routes, adjust arrival/departure times, observe work zone speed limits and other work zone signs, and use extreme caution in this area. ALDOT thanks motorists for their patience while these repairs are being made.

RAMP NOW OPEN ON RED MOUNTAIN EXPRESSWAY N TO I-59/20 NB

BIRMINGHAM–Following a closure earlier today for Construction work, the ramp on Red Mountain Expressway North to I- 59/20 Northbound is now open.

Motorists are encouraged to consider using alternate routes, adjust arrival/departure times, observe work zone speed limits and other work zone signs, and use extreme caution in this area. ALDOT thanks motorists for their patience while these repairs are being made.

CLOSURES ON RED MOUNTAIN EXPRESSWAY TO I-59/20 NB, IN BIRMINGHAM

BIRMINGHAM – Tuesday, October 30th beginning at 4 p.m. until further notice, Red Mountain Expressway North to I- 59/20 Northbound will be closed for Bridge Construction purposes.

A release will be sent out when these lanes are re-opened.
