BIRMINGHAM– As construction continues in downtown Birmingham for Interstate Improvements, the Alabama Department of Transportation says drivers should expect delays.

The following closures will take place weather permitting:

  • 15th Street N between Rev. Abraham Woods and 12th Avenue N will be closed, Thursday, April 30th through Thursday, May 7th from 8 a.m. until 5 p.m. for curb/gutter installation.
  • 19th Street North from Rev. Abraham Woods to 10th Street will be closed, Thursday, April 30th through Thursday, May 7th from 12 a.m. until 11: 59 p.m. for culvert installation.

RME Ramp Re-opens Ahead of Schedule

BIRMINGHAM–As construction continues in downtown Birmingham for Interstate Improvements, the Alabama Department of Transportation announces that The Red Mountain Expressway northbound ramp to I-59/20 North and I-20 East towards the Shuttlesworth International Airport will re-open today at 3 p.m.

This ramp was originally scheduled to re-open Monday, March 30th at 7 a.m.

Detour signs will be in place where necessary. Please keep in mind that all construction plans can change due to weather and other factors. […]
