BIRMINGHAM– As construction continues in downtown Birmingham for Interstate Improvements, the Alabama Department of Transportation says drivers should expect delays.

The following closures will take place weather permitting as follows:

• 19^th Street North from Rev. Abraham Woods to 10^th Street will be closed, Thursday, January 30^th for approximately two months for Culvert Installation.
• Richard Arrington Jr. Blvd. between Caraway and 28^th Street will be closed Thursday, January 30^th thru Thursday, February 6^th from 12 a.m. until 11 p.m. for Roadway Work and Painting.

The following will take place, weather permitting:

I-59 SB and I-20 WB Opening:

• I-59 southbound and I-20 westbound should open to traffic at approximately 9 p.m. Friday, January 17^th.

I-59 NB and I-20 EB Opening:

• I-59 northbound and I-20 eastbound should open to traffic Sunday, January 19^th at 8 p.m.
